What I fully did not understand when I married Cody

I either did not fully understand or maybe did not believe that Cody has throughout his life had something wrong with his body due to sickness or just playing to hard. In my life I have had the flu and cold maybe a few times throughout and never have broken anything in my body. Cody has had: whooping cough, strep, west nile, bronchitis, tonsillitis, shattered septum, broken coccyx, torn liagaments in his ankles, torn meniscus, as well as broken fingers, wrists, toes, and has pulled lower back muscles. So during the winter semester I was able to experience his pains with him. The first episode happened early one saturday morning (1am to be exact) when Cody and myself had just finished watching a movie. We got up to get ready for bed, and as Cody was in the bathroom I heard a huge BANG on the door and first I thought he had punched the door! But, as I walked in I found out he had passed out onto the door and had slide to the ground. So with the help of his old roommates, a priesthood blessing, and a trip to the ER the doctor treated him and we were able to go home knowing he was alright (for now) :) The the next experience came the last week of the semester when we found out that  he was not suffering from constant inflammation in the knee since fall 2010 but rather a torn meniscus! He had surgery done on his knee so hopefully he does not have any problems with those for a while, we pray! Those two events opened my eyes and not only made me appreciate my health but more importantly allowed my love for Cody to grow even more.

Our First Apt!

After our beautiful winter wonderland wedding, we had only a few days to honeymoon in Glennwood Springs, Colorado then we were off to school in the freezing weather at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg! The first three months of our marriage consisted of many movie nights due to the cold weather. I will never forget our cozy apartment at Cougar Court where we were able to set up our first little home.
One of these days this room will be one of my best friends, as for now I hate it. Cody did not marry me for my cooking skills that is for sure! But I can say we did have fun making meals together this semester.
I love our drapes! And those flowers are from Valentines Day, He did good!

The Beginning of Us :)

This whole love story starts on our first date which was a few days after Christmas 2009. I was invited to the singles ward FHE here in our home stake by a few people and I decided to go to have some fun bowling! Cody and I had flirt texted and seen eachother a few times up at BYU-I but never had hung out. Cody and Travis his brother showed up, and I was excited to actually hang out with Cody considering we had been talking for a while. That night was so fun, I made alot of new friends with the singles in the ward and I got to know Cody better. Later, mostly everyone decided to go Denny's to get some food and to continue to hang out. What I thought was funny was Cody had texted me (even though we were a few people away) asking if I wanted to go see Avatar with him. I said yes of course and that lead us to our first date!
Well, we went to Avatar and halfway into the movie Cody grabbed my hand. Ha Ha it was so cute, we had our 3D glasses on and everything ! After that date, he invited me to go ice skating a few days later. Before hitting the rink we went to my favorite food place ever, Chipotle. We spent a long time just talking about our families and who we were and mostly about the Gospel. As we skated around the rink, Cody told me I was so beautiful :) That night was so fun and from there we exclusively dated till marriage :) -Rachel
